Mary Cavallaro Hello, I was born on Dec. 7 in Bassett, Arkansas.  Moved 'up north' in 1963, first to Chicago then to Council Bluffs.  I worked on an electronics assembly line soldering switches for B-2 Bombers.  I've held other jobs from being a waitress, working in a meat plant in Oakland, Ia.  and was a Final Inspector with Pendleton Mills. Joe and I were married in 1982.  Enjoyed many of the computer activities when I was physically able to take part, including camping and picnics. Although I rarely attend the monthly meetings these days, Joe and I work together on many club related duties at our home. I whole-heartedly support Joe's interests and activities in this great club. We're Grandparents and Great Grandparents.  I love to cook and Joe even helps me occasionally in the kitchen.
Joe Cavallaro Hi, I was born on Dec. 28, (aftermath of Christmas?).  I have lived in Council Bluffs most of my life, having moved here from Omaha when I was very young.  I grew up in my Father's grocery store and later, after marrying,  my wife and I ran the store for many years. It was located where the Council Bluffs No Frills store is on 18th & Broadway.  Later I worked at our local newspaper, the 'Daily Nonpareil' as a darkroom technician and photographer/reporter.  Interesting work. I also worked as a meat cutter for a local grocery store, ran my own Portrait Studio, opened the Brandeis Photo Dept. in the Downtown C.B. Mall when it opened, ran a 'transfer service' converting old (film) movies to tape,  worked for Midwest Photo in Omaha, was Manager of Tandy Leather store in C.B.  I have been involved with the Metro Area Personal Computer Club since 1984.  I'm a husband to a great wife, Mary, a father, Grandfather and even a Great Grandfather several times, so I've been around a year or two.  Looking forward to reading your 'Bio'.....

Tammy Cooper

HI!  I'm Tammy Cooper.
I am 41 years old and feel like I'm 40.  <Ha Ha>  I have many interests One of the main interests as far as hobbies go revolves around photography.  I love to take scenic/ landscape photos but I especially thrive on close-up shots. The computer is a great tool in conjunction with photography.  I recently purchased an Epson Photo Printer, which I am very impressed with, thanks to the homework my papa did on photo printers.  It is quite exciting to see how the technology of computer and computer-oriented equipment has evolved.

Of course I have other interests as well, involving my husband Dan & all of my family whom I value and love very much.  I am the proud grandmother of my first grandson, Gage Joseph, who is all boy! He is learning quite quickly how much 'Nana' loves to take pictures of him!  I also enjoy the outdoors tremendously in the spring and especially during the summer season.  The hotter the better for me, but I'm sure many of you may not feel that way.  Dan and I love gardening and lots and lots of flowers.  We love to camp, fish, boat and swim, and recently returned from a 4 day outside Rock Concert in Comstock Nebraska.   I tinker around on the musical keyboard and during the colder months I make fleece blankets and do ceramics.

Esther Edie

Hi!  I was born December 25 at Iowa City, Iowa. Yes, a Christmas baby!   Raised in small towns and farms around Iowa, Kansas and Missouri.  Two years after graduating from Silver City High,  I met and married my husband Rex .  Twenty-six years of marriage ended when he became a cancer victim.  I was a mother of three.  Our only daughter also became a cancer victim at the age of 33.

My work history has varied but includes Balaban Luggage (suitcase liner), Future Foam (private secretary) and Western Electric (receiving clerk).  I obtained a back injury which resulted in surgery.  I continued to work part-time at U.S.D.A (private contractor) and A & G Litho/Photo  (bookkeeper/payroll clerk).  Being wife and mother came first among my duties.  After a 'carpel tunnel' surgery my working years ended in disability.  This did not stop me entirely as I had the responsibility of several rental properties to contend with.  One by one they were disposed of as the physical and mental responsibilities had become bothersome.

I visited the Club one time and was 'hooked'.  Where else could I learn the computer and be among  friends with a common goal?  I have been a member since the year 2000. I was elected Secretary in 2004 and found it interesting.  After recent elections, looks like we know what I will be doing for the next year again.

Geoff & Eddi
             Kebby

We are Geoff and Eddi Kebby.  Having lived previously in the pretty south coast seaside town of Southend-on-Sea, near London in Essex, England.  We both moved to Stratford-upon-Avon on retirement about 20 years ago.  We both have worked with computers and my wife, Eddi participated in extensive computer trials with the new government tax department whilst I, with a business background in London, ended my working days visiting folks in their home for the Department of Social Security.  Eddi lived in Rome for some years, having been a fashion model in London and is now a very keen gardener with a special interest in birdlife.  I was a Radar Engineer in the RAF during WW II and am currently president of the Stratford-upon-Avon Writer’s Circle.

Although we live some 6,000 miles away we are keen members of the MAPCC and are in daily contact with other members who exchange tips.  Following a most fortunate chance connection through PowWow, (chat program),  in 1997 I met up with our president, Joe Cavallaro from whom I’ve learned more about personal computers than I could have done locally.  Our close friends are now those that live farthest away from us.

Nowadays computers have broken down national barriers and although we are six hours ahead of you in the U.S., we can communicate as quickly and as easily with you as with friends just down the road.  We are very grateful to the other members of MAPCC who demonstrate that daily.

 Jessie Brant

I was born 12-19-1919 in Muscle Shoals AL, to Margaret and James E. Arnold.  I lived in Tennessee in 1939 when I married William Ivan Adkins. We had 8 children: James William, Margaret Marie, Mary May, Bertha Jean,  George Lee, William Henry, Shirley Fay, and Charles Frank.

I moved to Chicago in 1963, where I worked in a factory running a punch press.  I also worked in a Bakery and enjoyed that job.  I lost Ivan in a car accident. His son in law was driving and they ran underneath a city truck. Ivan died and our son, George was hospitalized for 30 days.  i was working so  I did ‘fair to middling’ financially.

I married Scott Brant, my second husband in 1968.  I adopted his three children, which brought our child count to a grand total of 11.  Then I met Joe Cavallaro over a CB, (Citizen’s Band) radio.  'Papa Joe' was his CB handle. Later on he got me started on computers, after he and my daughter Mary were married.  So I guess this is enough of my troubles.

Fritz  & Jo  Warden

Hi.  My name is William E. “Fritz” Warden, and I was born January 13, 1936, in Council Bluffs, Iowa.  We lived at 27th and Avenue B, across from the streetcar barn.  My father was a motorman on the streetcar and had a short walk to work.  We never owned a vehicle.   My dad was a radio ham --- W0YYF.  In those days the “hams” built their own receivers and transmitters.  I asked many questions when these men got together and understood basic electronics by the time I was 5 years old.  This background sure helped me in the future.  It was easy going through aviation electronics school in the USMC.  In High School I did many electrically-oriented projects…stage lighting, etc. Joe Cavallaro was a year or so ahead of me in High School and I remember him as a “stand out” (he excelled in everything). I met my wife Jo while I was in the service at El Toro, California.  We have been married for 48 years now. In 1962 I became an electrical contractor in Council Bluffs, owning “Fritz Electric”.  I learned computer “ladder logic” programming during this career. We started in the computer field using Radio Shack’s very first 16K computer.   It has been fascinating to watch the growth of this field, and we enjoy the advantages of modern computers in just about everything we do.  The club has been a great help through the years.  Hang in there, everybody, there’s much more to learn!

Hi, my name is Jo Warden.  I was born in California, raised there and in Arkansas, married Fritz in California in 1957.  Have been a telephone operator, nurse, and chief bookkeeper for Fritz Electric in Council Bluffs during most of our married life.  Hobbies are painting and sewing and reading.  Our first computer was a Tandy computer having 16 K memory and tape backup.  I lost a lot of data on that machine because I hit the wrong key and  p-o-o-o-f…it was gone.  Can’t remember the date we joined, but we have been members of the Computer Club for a long time, all the way back to when Godfathers installed a fan to blow out the cigarette smoke. We are retired and living in Shelby, Iowa, where son Sam has his own business, Empire Electric.  Neither Fritz or I like to drive at night, so we don’t attend club meetings, but one of these days we will stay all night in a motel and stop by Godfathers and see all of you again.  Keep up the Good Work !!!

  Jim & Annalee
   Gilbert Family

Jim was born at an early age in 1965 at Salt Lake City, Utah. He is the oldest of 4 children. The high school he attended is no longer a high school but a satellite for the community college. I, (Annalee),  was born in 1973 in Blackfoot Idaho. I have always considered myself a ‘Spud’ by birth. Jim grew up in the same house until we got married. I am a Railroad brat and lived in Southeastern Idaho, Northern Utah and Southwestern Iowa. If you know anyone with the last name of Ransom, Van Orden, or Jackson from Southeastern Idaho, chances are very good I am related to them. I originally ended up here in CB in 1989 and graduated from ALHS in 1992. Then I was gently pushed out of the nest to go back to Utah and take care of my grandmother in Salt Lake City where Jim and I met.

We were married June 16, 1995, at the exact same time it was announced that Salt lake City was to be the Host City for the 2002 Winter Olympic Games. Jamie joined us in November of that year. Then Zachary joined us in May of 2000 and Joel in July 2002.

In 2004, after living 9 years next to my in-laws, I made Jim move back here so he could live the next nine years next to his in-laws. Jim has always worked with computers since the first Tandy 2000 came out. My first computer was a Commodore Vic 20 and there were no disks for it. Everything was on audio tape cassettes. When I was in the 6th grade, my parents upgraded to the Commodore 64 and then a few years later, they got into an Apple IIe. I happened across one a few years ago and still remember a few simple program lines. When we moved from Idaho to Utah, the computer broke during the move and we didn't have another one until I was a senior in high school. Right now, Jim's favorite thing to do with the computer is family history. There are so many free sites out there, so find your family. My favorite things to do are chat with my family back in Idaho and Utah, my best friend in MO, and my "invisible friends" on the web. With the time lines, Jim is the beginning of GenerationX, I am the boarder between Generation x/Y and my Kids are Generation Digital.
Jim now works for the Omaha World Herald as a district route supervisor, and I am currently between beauty salons. I look forward to meeting you at our meetings.
Have fun and don't be strangers.
